His technical expertise covers key practice areas essential to responsible mine development, including the assessment, remediation, and management of contaminated lands, EIA, environmental monitoring and management, and regulatory support and consultation. He has led multi-disciplinary teams of up to 30 professionals and managed project budgets exceeding $10 million, driving impactful results in complex environments. His portfolio includes collaborations with entities involved in mining such as Teck, Rio Tinto, BHP, Norzinc, CMC Metals, Burgundy Diamonds, De Beers, ValOre Metals, CIRNAC, and the GNWT. Nelson’s forward-thinking, technical competencies, and decisive leadership have solidified his reputation as a trusted figure in the mining industry.
Originally from Yellowknife, NWT, Nelson enjoys staying active and exploring the outdoors. In his spare time, he loves travelling, indulging in culinary experiences, and sharing quality moments with friends and family.
